Testing Utah Aimee Information - Utah Surgery Guide

Aimee

How did you find your surgeon?
I did a lot of research on the internet and found some patient testimonials for the doctor whom I ultimately chose. I felt comfortable speaking with him and liked his before and after photos. Plus I checked up on his credentials and malpractice suits. Credentials were impeccable and malpractice suits non existent. That gave me the confidence to choose him as my plastic surgeon.

What procedures did you have done?
I had a full tummy tuck with hernia and muscle repair, liposuction of flanks, upper/lower abs and love handles. I also had mastopexy (breast lift) and augmentation.

Why did you decide to get cosmetic surgery?
I initially only went in for tummy tuck because I was uncomfortable with the horrible ledge I had hanging down to my pubic area; sit-ups did not help. I had felt uncomfortable with my stomach for most of my adult life. I decided after initial consult with a doctor to have my breasts done since I wanted the overall outcome to be a nice as possible.

What did you do to prepare yourself for the surgery, mentally, emotionally, and physically?
I spent tons of time on the various plastic surgery sites especially www.makemeheal.com. I meditated and upped my exercise routine. I walked a lot and also lifted weights.

Do you feel you were well prepared for your surgery? Did you know what it would entail?
Emotionally I was very prepared. I was not prepared for the amount of pain and soreness involved. I thought it would be similar to my hysterectomy recovery but there was so much more involved.

What surprised you the most about your experience?
How wonderful the hospital staff treated me and how emotional it was for me to see my new body. It was the best thing I've ever done for myself (besides getting married and having my children).

What do you look forward to most about your new figure?
Wearing a bikini and not worrying about hiding the roll of fat below my stomach. I think my clothing options will be greater. I am not ever going to be a super model but I really feel like I am the best I can be physically and it is exciting to finally feel this happy with my body.

What would you change if you could do it all over again?
I would have spent more time lifting weights to build my upper body strength. You really use your arm strength a lot during the first few days of recovery and I did not build my arms up sufficiently. Otherwise, I would do nothing different. I would also recommend an overnight stay at hospital or after care facility if possible. It really helped me to transition to my recovery time at home. Again, I had a number of procedures performed, so it was especially helpful in my case. Also, if you are getting implants try on as many sizes as you want. I felt foolish going back to the dr. three times to try on different sizes, I thought I was being a pain in the butt for being so indecisive but I am glad I chose the size I did. You are paying for something that you will live with for a lifetime, so make sure you are comfortable with the size you choose. I went with 400 cc Mentor silicones and the doctor put them over my muscle. They look great so far; they are larger and more round but not uncomfortably so.
