Ear Pinning

Also known as an octoplasty, this surgical procedure is performed to set conspicuous ears back closer to the head or to decrease the size of large ears. Cartilage in the back of the ear is sculpted or folded to obtain the new, desired shape.

The Best Candidates

Since the ears are fully developed by the age of four, the majority of cosmetic ear surgery patients are between the ages of four and fourteen. The sooner a child with oversized ears undergoes an ear pinning procedure, the less teasing and embarrassment the child will have to endure growing up. Ideal candidates can also be adults of any age who suffer as well from large ears or stretched earlobes.
